Feminism

I hate it when people preface a comment with “I’m no feminist but…”. You’re not a feminist? That’s cool, I always thought the right to vote was a little overrated myself. Frankly, I’d much rather “love and obey” my husband than live a fulfilled and autonomous life anyway. 

You see, this stereotyping of feminists as cranky and emotional is just another way of dis-empowering and belittling the intellectual capabilities of females. It’s manipulating the image of those who are fighting for equality as ‘just a group of angry women’, as though our goals and aims are just the hysterics of a lesser sex.

Ladies, I think it’s time that we stop treating the word ‘feminist’ likes it’s embarrassing. You want equality? You want the same pay? You want to be represented equally in the media? You’re a feminist. Deal with it.
